The Heritage Foundation hosted a talk with Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday, where the NATO secretary general strongly pushed for the United States to continue supporting Ukraine, APA reports citing The Politics.

Stoltenberg fought the assertion that European allies are not matching American support, noting European countries have given roughly $100 billion in aid, as opposed to the United States’ $75 billion.

As a share of countries’ gross domestic products, most European allies give more than the United States, he said. European countries also host millions of Ukrainian refugees.

Stoltenberg said Russian allies like China and North Korea are watching how the United States defends its allies.

“Supporting Ukraine is not a charity – it is an investment in our own security,” Stoltenberg said.

“It is Ukraine today, Taiwan could be tomorrow.”
