The United States Special Operations Forces killed a "very senior ISIS leader responsible for planning terror attacks in the Middle East and Europe," Al-Monitor correspondent Jared Szuba said citing a US official, APA reports citing Teletrader.
According to the source, the target was eliminated amidst a helicopter-borne raid in northwest Syria and two other individuals were killed during the firefight. The official said that no US personnel was killed or injured.
The source further shared that the exact role of the senior ISIS leader is yet to be determined, however, it is unlikely that the deceased was a top leader in the organization.
