Israel's defense agencies have been placed on high alert over the possibility of a surprise Iranian attack against US facilities and interests in the region, including Israel, Walla news agency reports.
According to the report, US and Israeli intelligence agencies are concerned that Tehran may launch a large-scale military provocation that could directly influence the course of elections and the political landscape in the United States.
The publication noted that, according to another scenario, if US intelligence determines that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is preparing an imminent attack, Washington may face a choice between launching a preemptive strike to neutralize the threat or refraining from doing so.
