The United States may pay up to $700 billion to purchase Greenland, APA reports, citing NBC News.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already been tasked with preparing an offer.
According to three sources cited by the network, the estimated value of Greenland was calculated by researchers and former US officials as part of internal work on President Donald Trump’s push to buy the island.
The figure exceeds half of the Pentagon’s annual budget and reflects Trump’s national security priorities.
However, a senior White House official told reporters that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been instructed to prepare a proposal to purchase Greenland in the coming weeks, calling the plan a “top priority” for Trump.
