The United States Department of Defense (DoD) issued a memorandum for senior Pentagon leadership, commanders of combatant commands and defense agency and DoD field activity directors on "safeguarding responsibilities regarding classified information" following recent leaks, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks (pictured) pointed out that any failure to "appropriately safeguard classified information is a reportable security incident" and asked personnel not to discuss classified information with unauthorized people, including media and Congress members, as well as not to access documents with classified markings from unclassified websites.
Earlier in the day, the FBI arrested a Massachusetts Air National Guard member who is suspected to have leaked classified documents about the war in Ukraine.
