Israel-Lebanon talks end after 2 hours-UPDATED

The meeting between the Israeli ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, and the Lebanese ambassador to the same country, Nada Hamadeh, hosted by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, came to an end after more than two hours, APA reports citing Axios.

A high-level face-to-face meeting between Israel and Lebanon has taken place in Washington, foreign media said, APA reports.

The meeting was held with the mediation of US diplomats.

The main topics of the discussions revealed the differing agendas of the sides. Israel intends to discuss the disarmament of Hezbollah and prospects for a future peace agreement, while Lebanon is primarily seeking to ensure a ceasefire within its territory.

Experts say no significant outcome is expected from the meeting due to Israel’s unwillingness to agree to a ceasefire.
