Peter Williams, the former head of a US government contractor, is suspected of selling trade secrets to Russia for $1.3 million, APA reports, citing Reuters.
According to the investigation, Williams stole eight trade secrets belonging to two companies from April 2022 to June 2025 and attempted to sell them to a Russian citizen. Through this information, Russia could have gained access to hacking technologies used by intelligence agencies of the US and other countries.
Experts believe that this increases the risk of attacks on federal systems and at the same time can strengthen Russia's cyber defense capabilities.
US prosecutors claim that Williams, who is currently wanted, earned $1.3 million from the sale of the information.
