Washington –APA. 2008 Presidential and Congress campaign in the United States became most expensive in the country’s history. $ 5.3 billion was spent for the Barack Obama and John McCain’s campaign, as well as 435-seat House of Representatives and 34-seat Senate. Barack Obama and John McCain collected totally $ 900 million in contributions during the fundraising campaign. That’s nearly double the haul of presidential candidates four years ago. Obama collected 600 million and McCain – 238 million in contributions. 39 per cent of Obama’s resources were 200-dollar contributions, but McCain’s supporters preferred to contribute larger sums.
