Bill prohibiting George Bush to start military operations against Iran prepared

The author of the bill is Democrat James Webb noted that he worries about concentration of the US’s navy and missile defense systems in Persian Gulf and Iran will assess it as preparation for the battle and it can bring both sides to wrong steps, Webb mentioned that during the incident happened in 1988 angry commander of the US war ship ordered to fire at a passenger plane of Iran air company. Taking into account some governmental representatives’ aggressive position, statements on attack on Iran and President’s faults in Iraq, the senator said according to the bill, the Congress has right to make final decision on declare of war against another country.
“President has no right to start military operations against Iran,� he said.
Besides, the bill does not restrict the tactical action opportunities of the US Armed Forces in international waters near Iranian costs.
“The bill allows our army reacting to Iran’s possible attacks or other threats and changing place towards Iranian territory,� he said.
Webb also said that the document does not prohibit the operations for intelligence activity.
The bill is expected to be debated this week.
One of the prominent democrat figures James Webb participated in the Vietnam War and was awarded several orders and medals.
The Senate’s secretariat said that analogous bill prohibiting George Bush to attack on Iran is being prepared in the House of Representatives. The authors of the bill are the speaker of the House of Representatives, democrat leader Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha, the Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, a Vietnam combat veteran. /APA/
