Baku-APA. Peruvian President Alan Garcia on Tuesday named Education Minister Jose Chang as new prime minister in a cabinet reshuffle, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.
Chang, 52, will replace Javier Velasquez Quesquen, who wanted to become the presidential candidate for the ruling Aprista Party of Peru in the general election scheduled for April 2011.
Ismael Benavides, an agricultural economist, was chosen to replace Mercedes Araoz as finance minister.
Garcia said on Monday that he would reshuffle the cabinet after some of the ministers had expressed their wishes of running for the general election.
