The events in the autonomous city of Ceuta on Africa's Mediterranean coast were not random, but were the result of criminal misuse of digital space and disinformation, according to a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior, APA reports.
"The recent events at the border crossings leading to the cities of Ceuta and Melilla were not spontaneous or random, but were the result of a confluence of factors," the document states. The Ministry of the Interior noted that "these include the malicious use of digital space, the dissemination of misleading information, the activity of human trafficking networks, and the misinterpretation of certain legal and administrative provisions that allowed for easy entry into European territory without legal consequences."
