The death toll across Kenya following recent heavy rainfall has risen to 49, according to a report by the National Police Service (NPS), APA reports.
In a press statement on Tuesday, March 10, the police said that thousands of families have also been displaced following the heavy downpours.
The authorities reported that 2,624 families have been displaced from their homes due to flooding, while infrastructure and property have suffered extensive damage in several regions.
“Following the devastating rains on Friday, March 6, 2026, 49 people have unfortunately lost their lives nationwide as a result of the flooding. The National Police Service extends its deepest condolences to the families and friends who have lost loved ones during this difficult period,” the NPS said in a statement.
