Survey: Most of tourists visit Azerbaijan for business
The investigations show that the main purpose of foreign citizen’s visit to Azerbaijan is related to their business activity. Number of persons visiting Azerbaijan as tourists is equal to 15% among the total respondents. Other 6.1%, those who visit relatives, friends, 3.3% - who come to Olympiad, competitions, 2.7% - who pass Azerbaijan as transit and etc.
Foreigners prefer to visit Azerbaijan alone (64%), 16.1% with friend, 13.7% with family. Most of the foreigners (53%) prefer to stay here 1-6 days, averagely their visits last 10 days.
Only 18% of tourists prefer to visit the regions. 99% stay in Baku. Especially tourists like to rest in Zagatala (17%), Guba (17%) and Shaki (15%). The results of the investigations show that half of the foreign tourists visit the regions in connection with their business. Nevertheless, there those who visit regions for the purpose of holiday, interest and entertainment (35%)
The foreigners get the information about Azerbaijan especially from internet (46%). 40% - friend, colleague. Role of media, in delivering information to tourists is very low (14%)
7 of 10 goreigners in Baku have visited Isheri Sheher. Other visitable places were Maiden Tower (61%), restaurants (53%) and National Park (50%).
84% of foreigners are satisfied with the level of tourism services conducted for them. 16% were not satisfied with unprofessional services.
Along with this, most of foreigners are dissatisfied with the prices of tourism services. According to them, the prices must be decreased by 30-50%.
The results of research show that, foreigners’ per head expenditures in Azerbaijan makes AZN 893 ($ 1100), during the visit.
The main factors that the tourists were not satisfied with, are mainly not development of tourism infrastructure (24%) and lack of modern tourism centres (23%). Most of foreigners plan to revisit Azerbaijan (57%). 2% of foreigners will never visit our country.
