Baku. Ali Ahmadov - APA-Economics. This year’s UEFA Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona was the richest ever in the history, APA reports quoting Daily Star newspaper.

The 86,000 spectators charged the highest ticket prices in the competition’s history – and it is proving eye-wateringly expensive. UEFA’s set prices mean the ‘ordinary’ supporter having to fork out £176 for the cheapest ticket on general sale. But some corporate box holders, incredibly, have to shell out almost £4,700 for just one official ticket.
Final generated an estimated €369 million in the UK, Europe and beyond - a truly remarkable feat. Winner enjoyed a record economic windfall of around €126 million. The losing finalist enjoyed a windfall of €73 million. London, the host city, scooped an economic windfall of €52 million.

Barcelona’s players escaped a £2 million tax bill after the Treasury agreed a special one-night exemption to a law that means overseas stars are taxed for UK performances.
