Baku – APA. Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova (Ombudsperson), along with members of the National Preventive Group (NPG), has paid an unexpected visit to the State Security Service’s temporary detention facility and investigation isolator, the Office of Ombudsperson told APA.
The visit was aimed at learning the detention conditions and treatment towards prisoners as well as nutrition, medical care, walk, and other rights of prisoners.
The Group held private meetings with prisoners to learn the treatment towards them, giving them legal advice as to their requests and explaining their rights.
Prisoners largely did not complain about the treatment or the detention conditions, expressing their satisfaction with the nutrition, walking, and medical care.
The Group gave the prison’s administration recommendations on domestic and international law.
