About 300,000 internally displaced persons have been provided with apartments in Azerbaijan in recent years, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state made the remarks at a ceremony held in Lokbatan settlement of Baku’s Garadagh district on Wednesday to give out apartments and cars to veterans of the Karabakh and Great wars, the Chernobyl disabled and families of martyrs, APA reports.
President Aliyev noted that a new 1,000-apartment residential complex for IDPs was built in Gobu settlement this year.
He added that 4,000 IDP families – 20,000 people – will be provided new apartments by the end of 2018.
“This policy will continue. Azerbaijani citizens, especially those who are not socially protected, who suffered from the occupation and who lost their relatives, are at the center of all this work. We solve these problems as far as possible,” said the president, stressing that in this regard, Azerbaijan’s experience is exemplary.
