Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on American journalist Tucker Carlson's statement that the United States could launch a nuclear strike against Iran, TASS reports.
Lavrov stated that there are no other sources confirming Carlson's claim.
"We have taken note of what Tucker Carlson said, but this information has not been confirmed by other sources," the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized.
According to Lavrov, the public dissemination of such information may sometimes be part of information campaigns used ahead of elections.
"I see no real grounds for reaching such a conclusion," the minister noted.
It should be noted that on November 2, Tucker Carlson claimed in a social media post that US President Donald Trump's administration could launch a nuclear strike against Iran in the coming days under pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The journalist identified an underground nuclear facility in central Iran as a possible target.
