Murad Fetiyev, who was internationally wanted for organizing separatist activities, has been arrested, the Press Service of the State Security Service said, APA reports.
According to the information, as a result of ongoing operational-search measures conducted by the State Security Service, Murad Garib oghlu Fetiyev, who had been on the international wanted list since 2025, was brought to Azerbaijan and brought under investigation.
It was established that Murad Fetiyev, acting on instructions from radical centers controlled from abroad, created various groups on social media with the aim of undermining the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and inciting national hatred and hostility, and recruited representatives of an ethnic minority living abroad and in Azerbaijan who held extremist views into these groups.
At the same time, he organized the selection of individuals among them who were particularly distinguished by their radical views, the collection of information about important strategic facilities in the country, and public calls for terrorism.
Some time ago, several members of the criminal group were prosecuted and arrested for carrying out preparatory actions to attack a state enterprise and take people hostage with the aim of weakening the defense capabilities and economic security of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Court proceedings have begun in the criminal case against Murad Fetiyev, who is charged under Articles 214-2 (Public calls for terrorism), 283-1 (Incitement of national, racial, social or religious hatred and hostility), and other articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
