Baku. Konul Kamilgiz – APA. Gender reassignment surgery is not prohibited by Azerbaijan’s legislation, said a message from the Health Ministry Sept. 21.
The Health Ministry commented on gender reassignment surgery conducted on a 12-year-old child in the country.
“The Health Ministry’s Center for Analytical Examination gives a conclusion on the conduct of certain operations given the types of impatient or outpatient activities and profile of private hospitals and clinics,” said the message.
Earlier, axÅŸam.az news website reported that a 12-year-old child would undergo male-to-female surgery in a private hospital in Baku.
Plastic-surgeon Dilgam Mammadov said that the surgery would be conducted legally.
Necessary documents have already been received from the Health Ministry and Forensic Medical Examination, said the doctor.
The surgery had already been conducted.
