Employers in Azerbaijan sometimes breach the rules for employment of foreign citizens, Chief of the State Migration Service (SMS), II rank migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev said on Wednesday.
He made remarks while addressing a meeting with members of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club, APA reported.
Nabiyev accused some businessmen of recruiting foreigners coming to Azerbaijan on a tourist visa.
“In some cases businessmen recruit foreign nationals arriving in Azerbaijan on a tourist visa,” said the SMS chief. “Sometimes, illegalities are revealed in the activities of some representations and branches. They do not even have a place of work. Such a question arises. If they don’t have an actual workplace, then why do they apply?”
Nabiyev said that Azerbaijan treats any foreigner like its own citizen, regardless of his or her religion, culture, and nationality.
"I am saying this because some foreigners come and work here in order to cross to another country. Some businessmen create conditions for them. These tendencies are being dealt with as well. In 2016, the SMS exposed 7 citizens of Bangladesh," he said, noting that hotel owners do not register foreign nationals who stay in their hotel.
