Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Education does not recognize the diplomas of students who have passed distance learning abroad as such a mechanism is not available in the country, Samir Valiyev, acting head of the ministry’s accreditation and nostrification department, told reporters on Friday.

“The recognition of diplomas will be possible only after the development of a distance education mechanism in the country,” he said. “Azerbaijani diplomas are recognized in foreign countries in accordance of rules of procedure of each country.”

Valiyev went on to say that the new accreditation rules will soon be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to him, the new rules will differ from some of the current ones. “The main difference of the new rules is that the form of ensuring the quality of education will be specified at first. Another difference is the change of the format of composition of accreditation commissions”, he added.
