Baku. Konul Kamilqizi – APA. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Education and the UN Children’s Fund in a joint project are planning to create a common database for children with disabilities.

Anar Khalilov, head of the special education department of the ministry’s office for de-institutionalization and children’s protection, told APA that the purpose of creating a common database is to prepare precise statistics of disabled children in accordance with their diagnoses, find out how many children are deprived of education, and specify for which diagnoses disabled children are granted the status of disabled.

He noted that there are three educational institutions for children with disabilities in Baku and one in Ganja.

“Thus, disabled children should be placed at residential schools in Baku to receive education. Giving them the right to study we are depriving them of the right to live with their parents. So, the development of Integrated and Inclusive Education is aimed at those children’s receiving education in their places of resident and settlements,” he added.
