France’s government agencies show interest in the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez said on Friday.

UFAZ has 46 female and 95 male students, the ambassador told a press conference dedicated to the admission of students to UFAZ for the next academic year, APA reported.

“The university has taken a number of steps in internal management over the past year. In 2017, the first meeting of the management committee took place. A number of important decisions were reached, including the university’s relations with companies. It’s obvious that the university prepares students and must take some action in order for them to be employed in the future,” the diplomat said.

She noted that the targeted number of students for the next academic year is 160.

“Of them, 120 will receive public education and 40 will receive private education. Education fee will be AZN 3,000. Those who seek admission have to score 500 to 700 on Specialty Group 1. The entrance examination will be held on July 27. On July 2nd, 40 students who study here will be sent to the University of Strasbourg in order for them to gain an insight into the French language and culture,” Ambassador Bouchez added.

Speaking at the press conference, the rector of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University, Mustafa Babanli, said that preparation for the next academic year in UFAZ is continuing in an accelerated manner.

He recalled that 141 students entered the university last year.

“Of them, 120 are exempt from paying tuition fees. Now, foreign students are showing interest in studying in this university,” said the rector.

He noted that the work is underway to build a new university building and inaugurate it on September 15, 2017.

According to the rector, the education in UFAZ is conducted completely in English language. Moreover the students also follow French courses during the 4 years.

"Chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, geophysics and computer sciences are taught in the university. The aim is to get education of French quality without leaving the country. The students will receive two diplomas at the end. Distinguished students would attend summer schools for free. Numerous French and Azerbaijani companies are showing interest in the university,” he added.
