Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. The “Khojaly syndrome” is on a par wit the “Vietnam and Afghanistan syndrome”, said Hijran Huseynova, chairwoman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
She made the remarks addressing the round table on “The Importance of preserving human capital in terms of mass movement of people as a basis for sustainable development” held within the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum Sep.30.
“Today, Azerbaijan is home for more than 2 million families. Over 75,000 marrigaes are registered every year. Some of these families receive targeted social assistance and large families – child allowance,” said Huseynova.
The committee chairwoman noted the lack of mechanisms to prevent the ongoing wars and conflicts in the world.
“Victims of wars are suffering from serious psychological impacts. It leads to the birth of ill children and family disputes. The “Khojaly syndrome” is on a par wit the “Vietnam and Afghanistan syndrome,” she added.
The 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum kicked off at the Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku on Sep.29.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the official opening ceremony of the forum.
The Baku International Humanitarian Forum was initiated in 2010 by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and former Russian President, current Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.
