Over the first six months of 2018, the Baku City Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid Station received 2,680 childbirth-related calls and 2,612 hospitalization-related calls, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health told APA.
During the reporting period, 21 out-of-hospital births were recorded in the country, all of the patients were later hospitalized.
This year the number of out-of-hospital births decreased compared to the same period of last year. For each patient who refused to be hospitalized, notices were sent to the Baku City Health Department, women's counseling offices, polyclinics, and law enforcement agencies.
In total, the Baku City Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid Station received 17,314 calls during the reporting period. Some 1,374 of those who appealed to the medical facility were hospitalized.
