Wind speed in Baku to reach 30 m/s, waves in Caspian Sea reach 5,5 meters in height - WARNING

The speed of north-west and north wind will be 13-18 m/s, occasionally be 20-23 m/s in the Caspian Sea on October 7, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. In further development, the wind speed will reach 25-30 m/s, according to the warning of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, State Maritime Agency told APA.

According to the statement, the height of waves will be 2,5-3,5 meters, in further development, reach 3,5-5,5. Towards evening, the speed of the wind will diminish. National Maritime Agency's National Center, shipowners, harbor captains, port inspectors have been instructed to take appropriate action and strengthen service.

The vessels on the anchor and moving in the territory of the Ship Traffic Management Service have been informed via NAVTEX and other communication means, appropriate instructions have been given. The boats have been provided with places safely in anchor shelters. There was no problem with the movement of ships in the queue. In addition, offshore oil and gas platforms have been informed about weather warnings. The latest navigation and communication stations are operating at full capacity in the coastal areas of Azerbaijan.

The leadership of the State Maritime Agency maintains regular contact with the National Center and ensuring the safety of ships' movement is under control.
