In accordance with the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, entry and exit by railway transport on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route for citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and citizens of all foreign countries entitled to visa-free entry to Azerbaijan has been restored starting from 00:00 on May 25, 2026, the State Migration Service told APA.

Foreigners and stateless persons traveling to the Republic of Azerbaijan via this route and leaving the country after the end of their stay must be informed about the requirements of Azerbaijan’s migration legislation.

“According to the migration legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, foreigners or stateless persons temporarily staying in the country for more than 15 days must register at their place of stay. The period of temporary stay in the country for foreigners and stateless persons arriving in Azerbaijan under a visa-free regime cannot exceed 90 days, except for cases envisaged in international agreements to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party. According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the period of temporary stay for citizens of the Russian Federation in the territory of Azerbaijan is set at 90 days within one calendar year.

In order to ensure the convenience of passengers transported by railway on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route and prevent delays that may arise due to the application of possible additional procedures, foreigners and stateless persons who may have violated the above-mentioned requirements of migration legislation can apply to the regional migration departments (offices) of the State Migration Service or the ‘migration services’ working windows operating in ‘ASAN service’ centers until leaving the country and they can also obtain information both while in the country and before arriving in the country about restrictions imposed on their departure from and entry into the country due to violations of migration legislation through the ‘Electronic services’ section of the Service’s official website.

Note that the activities of the State Migration Service have been ensured at the Boyuk Kesik railway station, where the train operating on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route stops. During the train’s stop at the station, migration services are provided prompltly to foreigners and stateless persons traveling to the country via the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route,” the statement said.
