Approximately 2 billion cubic meters of water resources are available in Karabakh and East Zangezur. The main advantage of these water reserves is that they are largely formed from domestic sources, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavand districts, said at a regional meeting in Zangilan dedicated to the discussion of the “State Program on the Development of Production and Processing Sectors of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030,” APA reports.
The special representative noted that Karabakh and East Zangezur are being fully integrated into Azerbaijan’s overall water balance.
“Creating a reliable water supply to realize the agricultural potential of these territories is among our key priorities. All these projects demonstrate the great attention the state pays to water resources and agriculture,” he said.
It was noted that comprehensive measures have been implemented to establish and develop modern water management infrastructure in these territories, and this work is currently ongoing.
