“Currently, more than 1,000 people in Azerbaijan need an organ,” said Chair of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation, Yegana Abbasova, in a statement to journalists, APA reports.
According to her, 4,642 people are currently receiving dialysis treatment: “These people need donors. After the first deceased-donor organ transplantation in Azerbaijan, the number of people who want to become donors has exceeded 1,200.”
