Khankendi will become one of the main cities of Karabakh, said Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in the city of Khankendi, and the districts of Aghdara and Khojaly told APA.
Speaking at the National Business Development Forum held in Khankendi, E. Yusubov stated that the city’s master plan will be ready in the near future, and detailed information about it will be presented to the public:
“Currently, the city’s development concept is being prepared by Western companies. Within the framework of the plan, it is envisaged to develop Khankendi as a ‘city of youth’. Expanding educational and social infrastructure in the city has been identified as one of the main priorities. In particular, a large area has been allocated for Karabakh University, and it is planned to create modern and comfortable conditions for students studying there. At the same time, it is noted that students and teaching staff will make up approximately 12–15 percent of the city’s total population.
According to the project, Khankendi is expected to be formed in the future as a modern city with a population of approximately 80,000 people. In short, Khankendi will turn into a modern city, and all projects implemented here are being carried out in line with the city’s sustainable development in the short term,” he said.
