The Istisu mineral spring located in the territory of the village of Zulfugarli in the Kalbajar district is similar to the resort waters of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic, which are known worldwide, both in terms of chemical composition and physical characteristics. This natural resource is considered a rare hydrological source due to its several features, APA reports.
According to geological studies, the formation of Istisu mineral water is related to tectonic processes. In particular, cracks formed in the earth’s layers as a result of the strong earthquake that occurred in 1138 created conditions for thermal waters to emerge from the depths to the surface. Currently, the temperature of the water coming from the source varies on average between 58-60°C.
According to specialists, Istisu mineral water is widely used in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. It is distinguished by its positive effect on metabolic disorders, skin diseases, nervous system, gynecological and urological problems, as well as diseases of the musculoskeletal system, including rheumatism and arthritis.
It is expected that the Istisu spring will become one of the main centers of interest for both local and foreign tourists in the future. The natural opportunities of the region, the characteristics of its healing water, and its mountainous terrain create broad prospects for the development of health and sanatorium tourism there. Specialists believe that the expansion of infrastructure and the adaptation of tourism services to modern standards will further increase Kalbajar’s attractiveness in this field.
Note that the distance from the Istisu spring to the center of the city of Kalbajar is approximately 42 kilometers.
