On February 19, the first resettlement to the village of Khanabad in Khojaly district took place, the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service for Aghdara and Khojaly districts in Khankendi told APA’s Karabakh bureau.
38 families comprising 154 people returned to Khanabad at the initial stage.
The existing residential houses in the village have undergone major renovation, and the settlement has been provided with uninterrupted natural gas, electricity, and drinking water supply. Comprehensive conditions have been created to ensure comfortable living for residents. The keys to the new homes were presented to residents during a ceremony held in Khojaly city.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sabuhi Gahramanov, Deputy Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the city of Khankendi and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, stated that all necessary infrastructure has been established in Khanabad and that comprehensive measures have been implemented to ensure sustainable settlement and employment for the population.
It was stated that this process is part of the “Great Return” program announced by President Ilham Aliyev. As emphasized by the head of state, life is rapidly being restored in the territories liberated from occupation, and former internally displaced persons are returning to their native lands in a dignified and secure manner.
With this resettlement to Khanabad village, the return of former internally displaced persons has now been ensured to one city and eight villages in the Khojaly district overall.
