“Iran is an issue that directly affects Türkiye and Azerbaijan,” Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, told journalists in Baku, APA reports.
“If turmoil similar to what happened in Syria were to occur in Iran, its impact on the entire region and the world would be different. However, this impact would be felt more strongly in Azerbaijan and Türkiye. For this very reason, Türkiye and Azerbaijan wish for the issue between Iran and the United States to be resolved through negotiations. Türkiye is making efforts in this direction. Nevertheless, the presence of U.S. military forces in the region inevitably increases concern worldwide. We hope that this issue will be resolved as soon as possible without leading to any confrontation,” Fuat Oktay said.
