An event dedicated to World Blood Donor Day, observed on June 14, was held under the organization of the Republican Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health, APA reports.
The event was attended by heads and representatives of state institutions, private enterprises and public organizations, active blood donors, and media representatives.
The memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was honored with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem was performed.
Executive Director of the Republican Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health Elkhan Nagiyev spoke about the measures implemented to develop blood donation in the country, the achievements attained and future tasks.
He noted that interest in voluntary and unpaid blood donation has increased significantly in recent years, making an important contribution to maintaining blood reserves and treating thousands of patients.
Representatives of state institutions then delivered speeches on the importance of blood donation for society, awareness-raising activities in this field and the role of interagency cooperation.
During the artistic part of the event, a performance by the “Natiq” Rhythm Group was presented. A presentation and video dedicated to the activities of the Republican Blood Bank were also screened.
As part of the event, certificates of appreciation and awards were presented to institutions distinguished in promoting blood donation. APA Media Group was among the award recipients.
