Employees of Azerbaijan's Ombudsman received Armenian servicemen captured in September

In accordance with the instruction of Azerbaijani Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, members of the Ombudsman's National Preventive Group (NPG) made deliberate visit to the Baku Detention Center of the Penitentiary Service, Office of the Ombudsman told APA

The visit, organized on the basis of the requirements of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and the Constitutional Law "On the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan" aimed at investigating detention conditions and issues of treatment, the state of ensuring the rights of detained persons.

During the visit with the participation of doctors and psychologists of the NPG, Armenian servicemen who were captured after September 12 of the current year were also received.

During the confidential reception, it was determined that medical service, correspondence, and opportunities to obtain information (TV, publications) were ensured for every detained person. The admitted persons expressed their satisfaction with the condition of detention and behavior. During the visit, it was observed that their rights in accordance with national and international legal norms were ensured without any discrimination in relation to those persons.

At the end of the visit, those people were provided with publications reflecting their rights in their native languages.
