Transplants are carried out in a systematized manner in Azerbaijan, said Deputy Minister of Health Nadir Zeynalov during his speech at the scientific and practical roundtable on the topic “The first heart transplant in the Caucasus: a historic achievement of Azerbaijan’s healthcare and future prospects,” APA reports.
“There is a waiting list for transplant surgeries. Special mechanisms are used. The Coordination Center considers the issue of organ donation by non-close relatives. In addition, the issue of digitizing the system is on the agenda. Certain work has been done in this area, but it has not yet been completed,” the deputy minister said.
