Construction of main canal in liberated territories to begin with IsDB support

Construction of the Giz Galasi main canal, which will be 52 kilometers long and have a water discharge capacity of 50 cubic meters per second, is planned to begin in the near future with the support of the Islamic Development Bank, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavand districts, said at a regional meeting in Zangilan dedicated to the discussion of the “State Program on the Development of Production and Processing Sectors of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030”, APA reports.

According to him, land allocation work for the construction of the canal is currently underway. With the implementation of the project, 12,000 hectares of liberated land in the Fuzuli and Jabrayil districts will be provided with irrigation water, and it will also partially contribute to improving water supply for 252,000 hectares of agricultural land in the Fuzuli, Beylagan, Imishli, Saatli and Sabirabad districts along the Araz River.
