Shushakend - one of the ancient villages bearing the name of Shusha, nestled in the mountains of Karabakh. Located among steep cliffs, forests and winding roads, this village has entered a new period of revival, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.

The village of Shushakend in the Khojaly district is now on the threshold of a new stage.

The village came under Azerbaijan’s control as a result of the anti-terror operation carried out by the Armed Forces, after which large-scale restoration and reconstruction works were launched there. The face of the mountain village is gradually changing, where traces of the past and hopes for the future are merging in the same place.

To date, several projects aimed at establishing social infrastructure in the village have been implemented, and this process is continuing. Existing power lines have been restored, three water reservoirs and one artesian well have been put back into operation, a transformer has been installed, and meter installation works have begun. A gas line has been laid to the village, and the drinking water network has been repaired. At the same time, the communications line project has been approved and preparatory work is underway. A flag square has been established in the village, and internal roads have been asphalted.

There are a total of 263 private houses in Shushakend. Of them, 91 are in unusable condition, while 172 are partially usable. These figures demonstrate the scale of the restoration work being carried out there — every house and every street is being improved and revived day by day.
