The Azerbaijani citizen detained following a knife incident in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, allegedly involving Turkish nationals, has been released, APA reports.
He was freed by Montenegro’s law enforcement authorities on Thursday evening.
Police reviewed surveillance camera footage, which showed that the Azerbaijani citizen was at home at the time of the incident.
Recall that a knife incident occurred some time ago in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. Amid the escalation of the incident into riots, a group of people were detained by Montenegrin law enforcement authorities, including Turkish nationals.
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Serbia and the diplomatic office in Montenegro have been monitoring the situation of the Azerbaijani citizen involved, and the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan has contacted the Montenegrin Ombudsman.
