The village of Zar in the Kalbajar district is one of the modern residential settlements being rebuilt in the territories liberated from occupation. The village, which is one of the ancient settlements of the district, is located at an altitude of approximately 2,400 meters above sea level. The foundation of the village of Zar, distinguished by its mountainous terrain, rich nature, and strategic location, was laid on August 25, 2023, by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
Nurana Babayeva, head of the Press Service Department of the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in the Kalbajar district, told APA’s local correspondent that the village of Zar was designed as a residential settlement of socio-economic and strategic importance. According to her, it is planned to settle a total of 855 families there. More than 243 hectares of land have been allocated for the construction of the village, and the project was prepared taking into account a 20-year development perspective. At the first stage, it is planned to relocate 547 families to the village.
Babayeva noted that modern social infrastructure is being created in the village for the comfortable living of residents. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to build a school for 528 students, a kindergarten for 100 children, a modern street and lighting system, as well as to carry out extensive landscaping and beautification works.
Ensuring employment for the population and creating a sustainable living environment are among the main priorities in the village of Zar. An ecological approach will be applied there, and “green energy” opportunities will be used in the lighting of houses and streets.
Note that the village of Zar is located approximately 26 kilometers from the center of the city of Kalbajar.
