Parents and teachers who use physical violence against children for disciplinary purposes will be fined up to 200 manats, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed new Article 525-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which was put up for discussion at today's session of the Milli Majlis.
Under the draft, parents (or persons replacing them), as well as employees of educational, medical, social service, sports, cultural, leisure institutions and penitentiary institutions responsible for supervising children, will be fined 200 manats for applying corporal punishment to a child. This includes the use of physical and/or psychological violence against a child for educational or disciplinary purposes.
The penalty will apply in cases where the act does not entail criminal liability under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
After the discussions, the draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
