Individuals engaged in begging will be fined or subjected to administrative detention, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed new Article 523-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which was submitted for discussion at today’s session of the Milli Majlis.
Under the draft, engaging in begging will result in a warning or a fine ranging from 100 to 200 manats. If these measures are deemed insufficient, taking into account the circumstances of the case and the identity of the offender, administrative detention for up to ten days may be applied.
For involving a minor in begging, a fine ranging from 200 to 500 manats will be imposed. If these measures are considered insufficient based on the circumstances of the case and the identity of the offender, administrative detention for up to fifteen days may be applied.
After discussions, the draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
