Azerbaijan may create a registry of the people wishing to be organ donors, Musa Guliyev, deputy head of the Healthcare Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament, said during public hearings dedicated to organ transplantation, ONA reports.
He said the corresponding bill on this matter reflects the creation of a registry of the people who, while alive, bequeath to be donors.
“It has also been proposed to add an article to the bill about the creation of a registry of transplant surgeons and this issue may also be discussed,” M. Guliyev said.
M. Guliyev added that if a person consents to become a donor while alive, his organs may be used for transplantation when he suffers brain death.
If there is no such consent, a close relative’s consent will be enough, he said.
