Another group of residents arrives in Kalbajar city under Great Return program - PHOTO-UPDATED - 1 -VIDEO

On April 2, the sixth relocation to the rebuilt city of Kalbajar was carried out within the framework of the “Great Return” Program, APA’s local bureau reports.

At this stage, 27 families — 113 people — were relocated to the city of Kalbajar.

The fact that this relocation coincided with April 2 carries symbolic significance. Thus, 33 years ago — on April 2, 1993 — Kalbajar district was occupied. This date, which remained in the memory of Kalbajar residents for decades as a day of pain and separation, is now being rewritten as a day of revival and return to the homeland thanks to the strength of our state. Residents who were displaced from their homes on this very day 33 years ago have now returned to Kalbajar on the same calendar date with feelings of joy and pride.

Those arriving with the relocation were welcomed in the first residential neighborhood of Kalbajar city by schoolchildren holding flags. They performed the national anthem of Azerbaijan.

Representatives of the Special Representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kalbajar district, the Restoration, Construction and Management Service in Kalbajar district, and the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons took part in the ceremony organized in connection with the relocation of residents to the first residential neighborhood of Kalbajar city.

Then, the heads of families were presented with the keys to the apartments. The families settled into their new apartments. These apartments are provided with uninterrupted water, electricity, heating, and high-speed internet lines.

Thus, under the first phase, the return of a total of 162 families (680 people) has been ensured to the first residential neighborhood of the city.

The relocated population covers various age categories. Able-bodied residents are mainly engaged in employment in various fields in the public and private sectors, working in several state institutions, as well as in service, infrastructure, and production areas.

It should be noted that the return process to the city of Kalbajar is being carried out in stages, and work is being consistently implemented to ensure sustainable settlement.
