"Mine remnants remain a threat to human safety, health, and progress, this global problem requires a global response," the head of Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov told APA.

He said the conference serves as a platform for cooperation, sharing, and learning.

"150 participants from 34 countries are attending the conference, which will play a role in fruitful discussions. Azerbaijan's Karabakh region is one of the most polluted areas with mines at the global level. Demining the region is one of the government's top priorities. Reconstruction of Karabakh is among the national priorities until 2030, and these lands must be cleared of mines to carry out this process. So far, 23 thousand hectares have been cleared, more than 55 thousand mines have been neutralized. 10 thousand anti-tank and 19 thousand anti-infantry mines were found, including 26 thousand unexploded ordnance."
