The level of primary healthcare services in the regions is very low, Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis Ahliman Amiraslanov said during today's committee meeting while discussing proposed amendments to the Law on Psychiatric Care, APA reports.

The committee chairman noted that the problem is less common in major cities.

“However, in the regions, especially in rural areas, the condition of facilities that are supposed to provide primary healthcare services is far from satisfactory. We have raised this issue many times. A pilot project was planned in Barda. Initially, the project was functioning well. Unfortunately, the expected level of progress in this area has not been achieved.

We had a meeting with TABIB Executive Director Anar Bayramov, and I raised this issue. First of all, I emphasized the importance of accelerating the process of establishing modular medical stations in the regions, and Anar Bayramov agreed with this. TABIB will carry out serious work in this direction. Because unless we improve the level of primary healthcare services, we cannot speak of providing quality medical care to the population.

There are villages located far from district centers, and sometimes we lose patients who could have been saved through timely intervention,” he said.
