Azerbaijan says economically active population reaches 4.321 million

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. As at March 1, Azerbaijanâ€™s economically active population reached 4 321 200, of which 4 059 700 are employed, said the State Statistical Committee. The number of employable population rose by 24 300 or 0.57% while gainfully occupied population grew by 42 000 or 1.05%.
The number of contract workers reached 1 407 700.
The number of foreigners working in Azerbaijan reached 4 400 according to official statistics.
1 400 foreigners are employed in industry, 1 100 in construction, 600 in real estate market, 500 in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, household appliances and personal effects, 400 in education and 400 in other areas
Foreign nationals employed by enterprises and organizations make up only 0.1% of the economically active population in the country.
