World Health Organization enters Azerbaijan in the list on highest rates of tuberculosis

Baku. Lachin Sultanova –APA. World Health Organization reports that 27 countries share 85% of tuberculosis patients, APA reports quoting UN’s official website.
There is Azerbaijan among these countries. Though tuberculosis is a disease of poors, member countries of WHO Regional Office for Europe have 55 TB patients every hour . Drug-resistant tuberculosis spread in post Soviet region. Here includes Azerbaijan, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
WHO Regional Office for Europe started implementing the plan” Stop tuberculosis” in 2008. The plan will last till 2015 and cover 18 countries-Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Estonia. 14.8 billion USD will be spent for realization of the plan.
