Georgia restores Azerbaijani soldier Rahim Mammadov’s monument

Georgia. Khobi. Nizami Mammadzadeh –APA. Azerbaijani soldier Rahib Mammadov’s memorial complex in Chaladidi Village of Georgia was restored with the support of Kulevi oil terminal, the terminal’s construction coordinator Rahim Rahmanov told APA. He said the memorial complex was restored at request of Chaladidi residents. “The architect prepared the memorial’s project in a short time and we asked to prepare Rahib’s marble bust. A new venue was allocated for the memorial complex in the center of the village. We also restored the monuments of “Stalin” and “Mother” in the complex and restored the lighting system as well”. There is a school in the village named after Rahib Mammadov and there is a special memorial place in the school dedicated to the soldier’s memory. Deputy Chief of the Chaladidi executive authority and chairwoman of the school’s parents committee Svetlana Abakelia told APA local bureau they are always honoring the Rahib Mammadov’s memory. “A boy baby was born in Chanturidze family of Chaladidi Village on the day of Rahib Mammadov’s death. The villagers decided to name the baby Rahib. Now Rahib Chanturidze is working at the Kulevi oil terminal and supporting the family. I thing the young generation will also remember about the Rahib Mammadov’s heroism”.
Rahib Mammadov was from the Mahrizli Village of Azerbaijan’s Aghdam Region. He was doing military service in Georgia in 1987, when the country faced with heavy flood. The Azerbaijani soldier rescued 28 villagers and died during the flood.
