Azerbaijan and Japan sign a document on loan project worth 319 million USD

Baku. Lachin Sultanova-APA. On 9th of February 2009, the Notes, concerning the provision of 319 million USD (32.851.000.000 Japanese Yen) to the Republic of Azerbaijan within the frame of Japanese ODA Loan on the Project for â€œImprovement of Water Supply and Sewage Systems of Provincial Citiesâ€ between the representatives of two Governments, were exchanged in Baku, APA reports Japanese Embassy in Azerbaijan.
The documents were signed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Masamitsu Oki and H.E. Mr. Abid Sharifov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The main objective of the project is to improve the water supply and sewage systems of 10 provincial cities of Azerbaijan which are: Shirvan, Salyan, Neftchala, Khachmaz, Yevlakh, Barda, Khizi, Gusar, Gobustan and Naftalan. The expected number of beneficiaries is more than 700.000 persons.
Since 1998 the Government of Japan has implemented loan projects which total is 665 million USD including the one provided this time.
